City Council fills vacant Ward 5 / Seat A position

At the July 5th City Council meeting, Mayor Paul Callaghan nominated 3 candidates to fill the vacant Ward 5 / Seat A position, which included Karen Stokes, Susan Rice, and Alexander de Geofroy.

Without delay, City Council voted to appoint Alexander de Geofroy with 8/13 votes.

Appearing remotely for the first round of interviews, Alexander de Geofroy introduced himself to Council and spoke about his call to service, military experience, and desire to “give back” to the community.

“I’d like to serve on City Council to help ensure that our community continues to thrive, that our local economy will continue to grow and adapt to the changing world around us, and that Rochester will always be a great place to raise a family,” said de Geofroy.

Following the confirmation, de Geofroy was sworn in by City Attorney O’Rourke.

Mayor Callaghan congratulated de Geofroy and thanked the other candidates for their interest and participation.
