Nicole Rodler said Waypoint’s SleepOut 2022 was a big success. The city Police Department’s youth services officer joined high school students, educators and other leaders to help make sure of it.
“Our community came together and led much by the initiative our youth, we raised over $5,000 to go towards our Rochester drop-in center,” she said. “Our actions hopefully demonstrated how strongly we feel as a community is a needed resource and a place we want for our youth and young adults, where they can feel safe, supported and a place to spread out and be themselves.”
Waypoint’s SleepOut event, held overnight Friday into Saturday, raises awareness and money with sponsored participants sleeping outside in the cold for one night.
