ROCHESTER — When Gov. Chris Sununu gave his State of the State address to members of the Tri-City chambers, those in attendance were most interested to hear what, if anything, the state could do to help them recruit and retain workers.
Herman Ejarque, co-owner of the Governor’s Inn, where Tuesday’s event was held, asked specifically about subsidies for two sectors, healthcare and hospitality.
A lot of young people are working at home,” Ejarque said. “Health care and hospitality are being hit the hardest. How about giving them 10% above their salaries as an incentive to work, to stay? It seems like there is money available. Could we subsidize healthcare and hospitality workers?”
