Rochester OKs charging station: Owner bets electric vehicles will soar as gas prices surge

The city will soon have a new six-station electronic vehicle charging station, much like a gas station but with charging “pumps” instead of gas pumps.

A plan by KoGo (Kilowatts on the Go) to build a six-station site with canopy was approved by the city Planning Board Monday night. The charging stations will be capable of charging any electric vehicle (EV), no matter the manufacturer’s brand, according to KoGo co-owners Victoria Perez and Lloyd Gifford of Exeter.

Perez predicted EV use will continue to expand as gas prices rise, surging to more than $4 a gallon and surpassing $5 per gallon in some areas of the country.
