Mark Klose is thanking everyone who supported him and his department as he prepares to retire after four years as fire chief.
Klose came to the Rochester Fire Department as chief in 2017. He previously served with the Bedford Fire Department, where he came up through the ranks, with stints at Derry and Manchester, before returning to Bedford in 2002, where he stayed until being hired in Rochester.
“I have been grateful for the time I spent here and it is a wonderful city to work for,” Klose said.
“I have officially, unofficially announced my retirement,” he said. “I haven’t signed the paperwork yet but I have informed city officials that I will retire as of September 30.”
A job posting for the city indicates a search for a new fire chief has begun.
