4 Strafford County nonprofits join forces to provide Thanksgiving essentials to over 900 households in need

Published on

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County, The Salvation Army of Rochester, SHARE Fund, and Grace Community Church have joined forces to ensure that local individuals and families in need experience a memorable Thanksgiving.

Collectively, these organizations aim to provide Thanksgiving essentials to over 900 Strafford County households this year, and they seek the public’s support to make this holiday special for recipients. Community partner MVSB (Meredith Village Savings Bank) has generously offered to match financial contributions, doubling the impact up to $15,000.

Skip Smith, Director of SHARE Fund/Gerrys Food Pantry, emphasizes, “With nearly 1000 households to assist, every can, box, or dollar shared will make a significant impact. Join us in supporting our neighbors in need by donating holiday meal essentials, gift cards, or contributing online to ensure we’re well-prepared for distribution on November 18. We extend our gratitude to MVSB for their generous matching contribution, enabling us to amplify our impact through this remarkable initiative.”

Marcus Weeks, MVSB President, adds, “Given the rising household costs, we anticipate a substantial need this year. We take immense pride in offering both financial and volunteer support to empower these exceptional organizations in their mission of caring for our community members.”

The Food Drive is scheduled for Saturday, November 4, from 9 am to 1 pm at The Ridge marketplace and Milton Road Rochester Market Basket stores. Visit https://straffordcap.org/straffordneighbors2023/ to make a donation and learn more.
