The Franklin Gallery to feature works by Amy Kindler

The Franklin Gallery, at RiverStones Custom Framing, presents “It’s in the Details,” works by Rochester artist Amy Kindler. The exhibit will be on display for the month of October.

Amy Kindler has been a fine artist, craftsman, and interior designer since 1970. She received her B.F.A from Maryland Institute College of Art, and has taken advanced art courses at UNH and the Arts Students League in New York City. Her artistic career has included working as a set designer and scene painter, a toy sculptor and designer, and a 3-D Animation Artist.

Kindler’s favorite artist is Andrew Wyeth.

“As a child, I would study the way [Wyeth] captured a story in rendering the elements with such care and attention,” she says. “I have spent hours pouring over his paintings and drawings. They are so exquisite. I generally use more vibrant colors when painting but find the drawings of Wyeth, his methods and renderings are very similar to mine.”

Her art includes portraits, figures, landscapes, animals, still life, interiors, spiritual art of a more abstract manner, and nature details. Although she works in many mediums, this show is made up of mostly oils on canvas and pencil on paper. Amy also takes commissions for portraits, animal portraits, or depictions of your home, business, or favorite landscape.

The thrust of this show is concentrated on a play of light, shadows, and movement creating a home for the subject to live in. Kindler uses traditional mediums to capture the natural details of trees, water, rocks, and animals. She often works from photographs; most of the art in this exhibit is from locations here in New England.

“I love the natural world and its beauty, I love the quirkiness and character of animals, amphibians and any other created beings,” says Amy. “I am also inspired by the way roots, branches, bark, water, and rocks are so varied. I love to explore the details and build up lights and darks to highlight these attributes. This is how I would like to have people engage with my art. Take each one, value it, study it, and hopefully create an experience that captivates you.”

RiverStones Custom Framing and the Franklin Gallery, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, is open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For information about this exhibit and other RiverStones events and services, call (603) 812-1488, or send an e-mail to riverstonescustomframing@gmail.com.
