Alumni Reunite to Celebrate the Legacy of William Allen School

Recently, a steady stream of smiles, laughter, and heartfelt memories flowed through the halls of William Allen School. The school opened its doors for a special Alumni Open House, welcoming former students, teachers, staff, and community members to reflect on decades of learning, growth, and connection before the building closes its doors at the end of the school year.

The Rochester school has been a cornerstone of the community for generations. The open house brought former students and staff of all ages back to familiar hallways, classrooms, and even the playground, where they were invited to walk through the school, reconnect and share memories with old friends and colleagues.

The event was filled with nostalgic moments. Guests pored over photo displays and class memorabilia, pointing out familiar faces and reliving classroom stories. Former teachers greeted students now grown with children of their own. Attendees frequently paused for photos in front of the iconic red-and-white sign out front—a symbol of pride for so many.

For many, this final walk through the school was bittersweet—a chance to say goodbye, but also a moment to honor the impact the school had on their lives. The outpouring of photos, stories, and memories shared in person and online has served as a testament to the enduring spirit of William Allen School throughout this school year.

Though the building may close, the community it created lives on. Alumni, families, and staff left the open house not just with nostalgia, but with a deep sense of gratitude for the teachers who made a difference, the classmates who became lifelong friends, and the moments that shaped their early years.

To share additional memories or photos from the event, or for more information, community members are encouraged to reach out to marcotte.m@sau54.org or gilman.j@sau54.org.
