City Council appoints Rachel Lawrence to fill vacant Ward 2/Seat B position

On Tuesday, January 24, City Council held a special meeting to conduct open interviews with candidates seeking to fill the vacant Ward 2/Seat B position.

3 candidates participated, including Carlton Cooper, Rachel Lawrence, and Raymond Turner. All candidates summarized their interest and experience and answered a series of questions. In the weeks following the meeting, Carlton Cooper withdrew from consideration.

Ultimately, Rachel Lawrence was appointed to fill the vacant Ward 2/Seat B position on Tuesday, February 6. Immediately following the decision, City Attorney Terence O’Rourke conducted the oath of office and Lawrence took her place on the dais.
