City of Rochester Launches “Meet the Candidates” Video Series Ahead of Municipal Election

Published on

The Public Information and Community Engagement Office for the City of Rochester is pleased to announce a new video series that aims to introduce voters to candidates for the offices of Mayor, City Council, School Board, and Police Commission ahead of the upcoming Municipal Election.

The series, titled Meet the Candidates, is a nonpartisan initiative created to give voters a brief, unbiased introduction to individuals running for elected office. Each candidate will have up to three minutes to speak directly to voters, share their positions on key issues, and present their personal message.

To ensure fairness and transparency, all videos are recorded live in a single take, without edits, hosts, or predetermined questions.

In accordance with Rochester’s GovTV policy, all “Meet the Candidates” segments will be presented together as a complete collection for broadcast. For video-on-demand, individual segments will be organized in alphabetical order by candidate name within each office/ward being contested.

Meet the Candidates will be broadcast on all GovTV platforms, including Breezeline (Atlantic Broadband) Channel 26, Comcast Channel 22, and video-on-demand/streaming platforms.

All candidates are encouraged to schedule a recording session upon filing for office. Sign-up information will be available in the City Clerk’s Office. Appointments are available on several mornings, afternoons, and evenings, with at least one weekend option to accommodate working schedules.

Appointments are first-come, first serve. Final recording day is 9/24/2025. No exceptions.
