Don’t Get Towed: City of Rochester Reminds Residents of Winter Parking Restrictions

Published on

The City of Rochester is reminding residents and visitors to follow all winter parking regulations to avoid fines and towing during the winter storm season.

According to the Rochester Police Department, numerous vehicles have been towed recently due to violations, including 53 during the first storm of the season, 21 on Friday, January 31, and 26 on Sunday, February 2.

City officials are concerned about vehicles being improperly parked in small municipal lots. Reports indicate that some landlords have provided incorrect information to tenants and guests, leading to illegal parking during winter bans. Residents are urged to verify parking regulations before leaving their vehicles overnight.

Winter Parking Rules & Reminders:

  • Designated Winter Parking Lots: Residents must park in approved downtown lots during a Snow Emergency and must have a parking sticker, available through Public Works and the Police Department.
  • Winter Parking Bans: Enforced as needed for plowing and snow removal. Notifications are sent via:
  • Towing Enforcement: Vehicles parked on city streets or in restricted municipal lots during a parking ban will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Exemptions: Residents needing exemptions must apply at the Police Department or call (603) 330-7127.

Following parking regulations not only helps avoid fines and towing but also ensures streets and parking lots remain clear for snow removal.

The City urges all residents to stay informed and plan ahead when winter weather is expected. For more information on parking regulations, visit www.rochesternh.gov/parking.
