Rochester Recreation & Arena, in partnership with Lila Productions, is excited to announce a brand-new opportunity for the community to watch and learn dance.
As part of its ongoing outreach efforts to bring the art of dance to more people, Lila Productions will hold free workshops and performances at Rochester Rec during the week of April 13.
Lila will offer three workshops throughout the week: Ready, Set, Dance! for kids ages 5–7, Move and Groove for kids ages 8–12, and Intro to Argentine Tango for ages 50+. Visit RochesterRec.RecDesk.com to learn more and/or register.
Lila will also present two free performances on Saturday, April 18:
Fairytales and Tutus will be held at 11 a.m. in the Rec Gym at 150 Wakefield Street. Experience a child-friendly dance performance that brings a fairytale to life, featuring dancers from CSD Ballet Company performing excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty. The performance introduces children to classical ballet through storytelling and live performance, and concludes with a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the dancers.
Whether your child already loves dance or is experiencing it for the first time, this performance is designed to be engaging, approachable, and easy for young audiences to enjoy.
The second performance, Discover Dance, will be held at 3 p.m. in the Rec Gym. Experience an afternoon of live dance featuring a dynamic mix of styles, all performed by local professional dancers in a setting designed to feel welcoming and accessible to all. Whether you love dance or are experiencing it for the first time, this performance is designed to be engaging for everyone.
The program features NSquared Dance Company, Manchester, New Hampshire’s premier contemporary dance company; excerpts from Le Corsaire, a classical ballet about a pirate’s quest to rescue his love; and Running into Time, a contemporary work by Millie Heckler originally created for the 2025 LILA Dance Festival.
Performances are free, and registration is encouraged. Visit lilaproductions.org to register for the Saturday performances.
