On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, during the regular City Council meeting, Mayor Chuck Grassie read a special proclamation designating April 11, 2026, as “Lynda Morgan Day” in the City of Rochester:

WHEREAS, Lynda Morgan began her distinguished career at Spaulding High School in September of 1975, dedicating herself to the education and mentorship of students in Early Childhood Education; and

WHEREAS, throughout her 36 years of service, Mrs. Morgan exemplified the highest standards of the teaching profession, inspiring her high school students while holding them to rigorous academic and professional expectations; and

WHEREAS, her love and passion for education were evident not only in her work with high school students in the Early Childhood and Foundations of Education program, but also in her calm, compassionate engagement with preschool children during her 35 years of service at Rochester Childcare Center, modeling excellence in early childhood education; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Morgan taught her students not only the skills and knowledge required to become early childhood educators, but also the importance of integrity, positivity, and meaningful contribution to the greater community; and

WHEREAS, the lessons learned within her classroom extended far beyond the walls of Spaulding High School, shaping future educators and community leaders who continue her legacy of service and dedication; and

WHEREAS, upon her retirement in 2013, Mrs. Morgan’s influence remained strong, as she continued to mentor and support the next generation of educators, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to the profession she so deeply valued; and

WHEREAS, her decades of service have left a lasting imprint on the students, families, and broader community of the City of Rochester.

NOW, THEREFORE, I Chuck Grassie, Mayor of the City of Rochester, do hereby honor Lynda Morgan for her exceptional career in education, her steadfast dedication to students, and her profound and lasting impact on our community by declaring April 11, 2026 “Lynda Morgan Day” in the City of Rochester.  The City expresses its deepest gratitude for her many years of devoted service and celebrates the enduring legacy she leaves for generations to come.
