Mayor recognizes John Mousette for saving student’s life during medical emergency

On Tuesday, March 5, Mayor Paul Callaghan recognized John “Moose” Mousette for his outstanding efforts during a medical emergency at Spaulding High School.

When student Matt Gould collapsed in Mousette’s office on December 5, 2023, he applied chest compressions and sternal rubs, keeping Matt alive until first responders arrived.

Mayor Callaghan presented Mousette with a “Above and Beyond” Service Award certificate of appreciation, stating “Prior to the arrival of first responders, your quick response and steadfast actions in this highly stressful environment reflect greatly on yourself, your profession, and your dedication to the students that you serve.”

In addition, the Gould family has publicly expressed their gratitude for what they described as “overwhelming community support” and emphasized Mousette’s vital contributions.
