The Rochester Recreation and Arena is pleased to announce that Northeast Passage will be hosting New England Sled Hockey League games on October 14th and October 15th at the Rochester Arena, located at 63 Lowell Street.
According to nepassage.org, Sled hockey is an ice sport that allows individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy and participate in the popular winter sport. Sled hockey is played as a team sport and the concepts and rules are the same as “stand-up” hockey. Instead of standing up to skate, participants sit on an adaptive device known as a sled. To propel themselves, players use two shortened hockey sticks with a blade on one end and metal picks for propulsion on the other end.
Don’t miss this opportunity to cheer on the NEP Wildcats as they play teams from the US and Canada. Games will start at 9:30 am on Friday, October 14th; visit Rec.RochesterNH.gov for a full schedule.
