Police: Columbus Ave. reopened after fatal accident, still under investigation

At approximately 1:55pm on December 30th, emergency personnel temporarily closed Columbus Avenue, near Kentucky Fried Chicken, for a fatal motor vehicle accident.

The preliminary investigation indicated a female in a mobility scooter was struck in the roadway by a vehicle traveling south on Columbus Avenue. The Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the investigation. The road was shut down and traffic was re-routed for 3hrs.

Police are not releasing the names of those involved at this time pending notifications to family. The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time while Police continue to gather witness statements and await the completion of the accident reconstruction.
