Police respond to reported robbery at Walgreens, suspect held pending arraignment

On July 6th, 2023, at approximately 9:49 PM, the Rochester Police Department responded to a reported robbery in progress at Walgreens.

A male suspect allegedly accessed the pharmacy area, forcefully obtained prescription medication, and assaulted a pharmacy employee. Subsequently, it was reported that the suspect caused damage to merchandise while fleeing the store.

Following the incident, police initiated a search in the vicinity, aided by witnesses who provided information on the suspect’s direction of escape. Eventually, officers apprehended the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Gabriel King of Rochester, on a nearby street. The discarded medications were also recovered.

King was taken into custody without resistance and has been charged with the following offenses: Robbery (felony), Falsifying Physical Evidence (felony), and Criminal Mischief (misdemeanor). King has been placed under preventative detention pending his arraignment.

An arraignment is scheduled to take place on July 7th, 2023, at 12:30 PM in the Strafford Superior Court.
