Police respond to the area of Eastern Ave. and Allen St. for a report of a motor vehicle collision

On June 5, 2023, Rochester Police responded to the area of Eastern Ave. and Allen St. for a report of a motor vehicle collision.

The initial investigation revealed that a Subaru Legacy operated by 31-year-old Adam Lessard of Rochester had been traveling on Eastern Ave. headed towards Allen Street when it struck a utility pole near the beginning of Allen St., snapping the pole.

Lessard’s vehicle continued across residential lawns on Eastern Avenue before crossing Allen St. and colliding with two parked, unoccupied vehicles in front of the post office. Lessard’s vehicle was heavily damaged and came to final rest when it struck the bollards protecting the front of the post office.

An off-duty Rochester Police Officer witnessed the crash and ran to the vehicle. As Lessard’s vehicle began to catch fire, the off-duty officer lifted Lessard from the vehicle and carried him from the wreckage.

Lessard was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for serious injuries. There were no other reported injuries as a result of this crash. Speed and impairment appear to be factors in the collision, and the crash remains under investigation.
