The City of Rochester is providing an update on the Union Street Parking Lot construction project.
According to the Department of Public Works, SUR will be remobilizing on site starting Monday, April 6, 2026. Areas of the parking lot will be closed to facilitate construction. Please observe and follow directions on posted signs.
The project, budgeted at $1.75 million, aims to improve both functionality and environmental sustainability. The lot’s capacity will increase slightly and will include handicapped-accessible and electric vehicle charging spots, as well as a consolidated dumpster corral for nearby businesses and residents. Significant environmental upgrades include bioretention basins, tree filter boxes, and a closed drainage system designed to manage stormwater runoff and protect the nearby Cocheco River.
Michael Scala, Economic Development Director for the City of Rochester, will be the main point of contact for the Union Street Parking Lot project. Contact (603) 335-7522 or michael.scala@rochesternh.gov for questions and concerns.
