On Saturday, August 26th, 2023 representatives from the Rochester, NH Elks Lodge #1393 traveled to the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH for the purpose of presenting a donation in the amount of $1000 dollars to the facility. This grant was made possible through a Freedom Grant awarded to the Lodge by the Elks National Foundation.

The money will be used by the Home to enhance the health and well-being of the resident veterans by providing them with special birthday celebrations, arts and craft projects, entertainers, trips to sporting events, concerts, plays, and museum trips as well as a variety of dining experiences both at the home and off-site when appropriate.

During the presentation, the Rochester members were also able to have a short visit with Vets Home resident and Rochester Elks member Norman Sanborn, Sr.. Norm has been a resident of the Home for a few years and was a very active member in veterans’ affairs in New Hampshire for decades. He is a past recipient of the NH State Elks Veteran Volunteer of the Year Award.

Making the presentation to NH Vets Home Recreation Therapist Megan Rowe were the following Rochester Elks: Peter Ducharme, Exalted Ruler; Norman Gervais, PER, Lodge Secretary and ENF Lodge Chairman; Mark Guilmett, Past Exalted Ruler and Don Chesnel, Grand Esteemed Lecturing Knight.
