Rochester Police Department Announces Upcoming R.A.D. Basic Self-Defense Program for Women

Published on

The Rochester Police Department is proud to announce the upcoming Rape Aggression Defense Basic Personal Defense System (R.A.D.) program, a nationally recognized self-defense program designed exclusively for women.

The course will take place on May 6th and 7th at the Works Health and Fitness Center, 23 Works Way, Somersworth NH 03878. The course requires attendance on both days and an optional simulation will be offered at the end of day 2.

The R.A.D. Basic Self-Defense Program is a two-day course designed to provide women with realistic self-defense tactics and techniques, regardless of their level of physical conditioning. It is not a martial arts program and does not require students to be athletes to succeed.

The course will be held on May 6th from 9 am to 2 pm and on May 7th from 9 am to 4 pm. Attendance is required on both days of the regular course. Participants attending the optional simulation must arrive by 12pm on the second day. The program is free of charge and is open to females aged 16 and older. Pregnant women are discouraged from attending due to the physical nature of the techniques taught.

Participants are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, bring a water bottle and snacks, and wear closed-toed running or athletic shoes. They must also bring a license or ID to register for the course.

For those interested in learning more about the R.A.D. program, please visit http://www.rad-systems.com/. To register for the course, please contact Jennifer Brown at jennifer.brown@wdhospital.org. The Rochester Police Department will be hosting more courses in the future.
