On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at approximately 4:39 p.m., Rochester Police, Rochester Fire, and Frisbie EMS responded to the area of 214 Milton Road for a reported motor vehicle versus motorcycle collision.
Upon arrival, officers located a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that had collided. The Jeep and motorcycle were both traveling north on Milton Road when the motorcycle attempted to pass the Jeep by crossing a double yellow line in a no-passing zone. At the same time, the Jeep began making a left turn into a residence, and the Harley-Davidson collided with the Jeep’s left rear quarter panel.
The Harley-Davidson sustained extensive damage and was later towed from the scene. The Jeep sustained minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as Robert Melanson, 67, of Rochester, NH. Melanson did not sustain any injuries in the collision. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Joseph Trask, 53, of Rochester, NH.
Trask sustained severe injuries in the collision and was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. Trask was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Due to the severity of the collision, the Strafford County Regional Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the investigation. At this time, no charges are forthcoming pending the outcome of the Accident Reconstruction Team’s investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who may have information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact Rochester Police Officer Zachary Marsh at (603) 330-7128.
