Rochester Public Library to showcase award-winning artist Don Jalbert

The Rochester Public Library is pleased to present the artwork of Don Jalbert on the main floor throughout March.

Don Jalbert is an award-winning artist and writer who has been painting for over 50 years. Primarily influenced by the French and American Impressionists, Don seeks to capture the unique aspects of light during different times of the day. His main subjects include the farms, landscapes, and seacoast of New England, as well as the resident wildlife of the region.

Don studied art at Springfield College, Salem State College, and the Massachusetts College of Art, and he holds a degree in Business Administration from Eastern Nazarene College. He was an apprentice to Impressionist artist John C. Terelak for many years. Don’s greatest influence from American Impressionism is Frank W. Benson, but his list of favorite artists is extensive, including Van Ruisdael, Monet, Pissarro, Hassam, Homer, and Caravaggio, among many others.
