Thanksgiving morning will mark the 24th running of the Free Fall Classic 5K Walk and Run. The SHARE Fund is excited to announce that they have taken over as the race organizer. “Race proceeds have always gone to support Rochester charities, including the SHARE Fund, so this new venture feels very fitting,” said Regina Flynn, prior race director with the Rochester Runners.
This year’s event will take place at the same location, on the same flat and fast USA Track and Field–certified course. The course is walker- and stroller-friendly, too. Mike Pomp will be returning as the announcer, and timing will be provided by Granite State Racing Services. The Brunch Club will provide post-race refreshments to runners and walkers.
Registration for the Free Fall Classic 5K can be found at www.freefall5K.com. “We are encouraging all runners, walkers, and spectators to bring a non-perishable food item or package of diapers to donate on race day. The race proceeds will help the SHARE Fund meet increasing demands for services, and race day food donations are most welcome,” said Jaime Huff, SHARE Fund Board Member and race director.
Proceeds from the race will support the SHARE Fund’s programs, which provide food, clothing, diapers, and financial assistance to neighbors in need. More information about the SHARE Fund can be found at sharefund.org or on the SHARE Fund’s Facebook page.
This event would not be possible without the generous support of our platinum sponsors—Eastern Swing Fore Charities, Granite State Credit Union, and Fidium Fiber—our gold sponsor, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, and silver sponsors Shaheen & Gordon and the Bill Stanley Family. A complete list of sponsors can be found on the Free Fall website. For information about sponsoring the race, please contact the SHARE Fund at 603-335-0011.
In addition to the Free Fall 5K, the SHARE Fund hosts an annual mini-golf tournament and a hockey game between a local team and the Boston Bruins Alumni team. According to Board Chairman Jerry Rainville, “Fundraising is essential but never easy. Putting some fun in fundraising helps everyone—donors, volunteers, and, most importantly, the neighbors we serve. We’re very excited to be carrying on this special Thanksgiving morning event, which has become a beloved part of the holiday for many in our community.”
