Community Action Partnership and Hannaford Team Up to Feed Local Families This Thanksgiving

Published on

This year, Community Action Partnership of Strafford County (CAPSC) is partnering with Hannaford for a special food drive; one that will aim to fuel the Thanksgiving Meal Basket Program offered by CAPSC.

On Saturday, November 15, CAPSC employees will host the food drive, handing out suggested donation lists containing Thanksgiving Basket specific items, such as canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy mixes, dessert mixes and other ingredients, to ensure that CAPSC is able to meet the needs of the local community, this Thanksgiving season. Interested shoppers can make a contribution to the food drive, directly at the grocery store, offering a freshly purchased can or box of food that will then be placed directly into a Thanksgiving Meal Basket the following week.

Unlike in other years, CAPSC has had nearly 1,000 families sign up to receive a basket- an increase in the number of families signing up for the program. Baskets contain enough food to make a balanced Thanksgiving meal for an average family of four, complete with a main course, sides, fix-ins and desserts.

To meet the increased needs of the community, CAPSC is seeking the help of fellow Hannaford shoppers to fill each basket with nutritious and delicious items, perfect for a warm holiday meal. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., shoppers at Hannaford, located at 11 Milton Road in Rochester, will be able to contribute to this program.

By doing so, Hannaford shoppers can work in partnership with CAPSC to build a stronger, more connected community.
