SHS Environmental Club to host Public Thrift Swap on 4/21

Published on

The SHS Environmental Club, a student-led organization that promotes sustainability practices and environmental awareness, will be hosting the first-ever Thrift Swap on April 21, 2023, at the front of Spaulding High School from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Club members say that all are welcome to attend the Thrift Swap, where clothes will be supplied by public donation and by the event’s sponsor, New and Again Thrift Store for Charity. Prom dresses have been donated by the SHARE Fund.

Clothing prices are not set and will be done by donation, which means attendees can donate any amount they feel comfortable with in exchange for clothes. Any clothes that are not picked up during the Thrift Swap will be donated to the Raider Closet.

The event aims to encourage sustainable living practices and reduce the amount of clothing waste that ends up in landfills. It also gives people the opportunity to find great clothes at affordable prices.

To support the effort, drop-off bins for clothing are located at New England Pizza, James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, Potter’s Bakery and Cafe, and the Rochester Public Library.
