Frequently asked question: What’s a Sample Ballot? A sample ballot is a document to help voters prepare for an election. Here’s a summary of the New Hampshire Pocket Voter Guide:

  1. Eligibility: To vote in New Hampshire, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and a New Hampshire resident. New residents can register upon establishing residency.
  2. Registration Process on Election Day: Register to vote at your polling place on Election Day. Proof of citizenship, age, identity, and domicile is required, but affidavits are available if documentation is missing.
  3. Voting in Person: Bring a photo ID to the polls. If you lack an ID, you can sign an affidavit and have a photo taken. After check-in, receive a ballot, vote, and submit it at a ballot-counting device or to the moderator, depending on your polling location.
  4. Accessibility: Polling places are accessible, with an “one4all” voting system featuring touchscreen and audio options. Those with print disabilities can use an accessible absentee ballot online.
  5. Voter Assistance: Contact your local election officials for help. If you believe your voting rights are violated, you can reach out to the Attorney General’s Office.
