In April 2022, the Trustee’s of the Trust Fund recently voted to expend a total of $20,900, from the Williams Evans Fund, to 4 local charities meant to benefit Rochester residents.
The William W. Evans Charitable Trust was established following the Last Will and Testament of William W. Evans, dated November 1, 1933. Since 2014, funds were distributed to several charitable associations in and around the City of Rochester.
In December 2016, the City of Rochester accepted the funds to be managed by the Rochester Trustees of the Trust Fund.
According to Trustee member Brett Johnson, the board received 11 applications from various nonprofits and charitable groups. According to Johnson, the goal of the disbursements was to benefit applicants that have the widest reach and greatest impact on the residents of Rochester.
“We do our best to award these generous funds to charitable associations that will have the biggest impact on the people of Rochester,” said Johnson.
The Trustee’s provided $7000 of the funds to Cornerstone VNA for Rochester Community Clinics, $2500 to the Kiddie Cornerstone event, $4000 to NH Food Bank to provide food to 11 local hunger relief organizations, $7200 to SHARE FUND for their fresh dairy program, and $200 to the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts for the advancement of public art and cultural accessibility.
“We’d like to highlight the generous support from the families that have entrusted us with their final wishes for their funds,” said Johnson. “Additionally, we’d like to encourage other families to consider setting up similar trusts that could potentially contribute to the betterment of the City of Rochester.”
