Willand Warming Center announces upcoming Cold-Weather Activation

The Willand Warming Center, located at 30 Willand Drive in Somersworth, is announcing an upcoming Cold-Weather Activation due to a forecast for potentially life-threatening low temperatures. The Warming Center will open overnight on the following dates:

  • Friday, January 8 (5 pm-9 am)
  • Saturday, January 9 (5 pm-9 am)
  • Sunday, January 10  (5 pm-9 am)
  • Monday, January 11 (closing at 9 am)

Guests may arrive at the Willand Warming Center anytime between 5 pm-9 am during an activation period. Referrals/reservations are not required. Covid precautions are in place, including hand hygiene, social distancing, and face masks are required. Guests receive evening and morning meals on-site.

COAST Bus will transport guests to the bus stops closest to the Warming Center at no cost during an activation. The nearest bus stops are accessible via Bus Route 1 to the Holy Trinity stop or via Bus Route 12 (N) to the NH-108/Midway Buick stop. Guests may not be able to enter the warming center before 5 pm – please plan accordingly.

COAST bus does not run on Sundays. The Willand Warming Center will pick guests up between 4:30 pm – 5 pm at the Dover Transportation Center on Sunday, January 10, and between 5 pm – 5:30 pm at the Monster Gas Station next to the Rochester Common, in Rochester. Please remind guests to arrive at the pick-up site at the earliest time in order to have a seat on the Van. If the first pick-up is not full, a second pick-up route may not run.

Partner agencies and municipalities are encouraged to assist clients with transportation to the Warming Center when the bus routes are unavailable.
