Granite YMCA announces closure of Rochester location, childcare programs to merge with YMCA of Somersworth

The Granite YMCA has announced the closure of its Rochester location, effective September 30, 2024.

All children currently enrolled at the YMCA of Strafford County’s Early Learning Center will be offered a space at the Somersworth location without any service interruption. Staff members are encouraged to transition to the Somersworth facility to continue their roles with minimal disruption. The Before & After School programs and Day Camp services will continue at their current locations without any changes.

Wellness programs at the YMCA of Strafford County will be discontinued. Members are encouraged to explore alternative wellness facilities in the area. Members will receive their regular July and August draft payments, with no charges in September. Membership privileges will be extended through September as a token of appreciation, with the last day of operation for the Strafford County branch being September 30, 2024.

The Granite YMCA of Somersworth will undergo a one-million-dollar renovation starting this summer, improving facilities and expanding services. The Granite YMCA is committed to engaging with community leaders and members to address future needs and opportunities.

For questions regarding early learning and school-age childcare programs, Deb Galipeault, Executive Director of Early Learning, can be contacted at dgalipeault@graniteymca.org. For membership and day camp program inquiries, Jennifer McGeehan, Operations Director at the YMCA of Strafford County, can be reached at jmcgeehan@graniteymca.org.
