Attorney General Formella and Secretary of State Scanlan Provide Guidance on New Hampshire Non-Profit Organizations Reporting

Published on

Attorney General John M. Formella and Secretary of State David M. Scanlan announce the issuance of new guidance to all New Hampshire nonprofit charity executive directors and board members on upcoming reporting deadlines.

The New Hampshire Secretary of State requires that all New Hampshire nonprofit corporations incorporated under RSA 292 submit a 2025 Nonprofit Report by December 31, 2025. This report must be submitted every five years. For more information, visit: Nonprofit Corporations and Associations | New Hampshire Secretary of State.

The New Hampshire Charitable Trusts Unit’s annual report deadline for all charities with a fiscal year ending December 31 is May 15, 2025. Attorney General Formella advises that “[i]t is important for all charities conducting business in New Hampshire to ensure they comply with both the Secretary of State’s and Charitable Trusts Unit’s reporting requirements. The transparency provided by regular reporting is the primary way citizens can be confident their charitable donations will be used for the purpose intended.” Filing an annual report online with the Charitable Trusts Unit is fast and easy. For more information about the Charitable Trusts Unit’s annual reporting requirements, including access to the online filing portal, visit CTU Forms | New Hampshire Department of Justice.

Attorney General Formella also encourages all board members of New Hampshire charities who would like to better understand their roles, including their state legal obligations, to access the free resources available on the Department of Justice’s website, Free Trustee Training and Resources | New Hampshire Department of Justice.
