City Manager Katie Ambrose Recognized as One of Union Leader’s 2025 ‘40 Under Forty’

Published on

The City of Rochester is pleased to announce that City Manager Katie Ambrose has been named one of the New Hampshire Union Leader’s 2025 “40 Under Forty.” This recognition highlights young professionals for exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to their communities.

The Union Leader has been recognizing the state’s most influential young professionals for 22 years. The honorees represent a wide range of industries, including legal, financial, tech, healthcare, and public service.

Ambrose, 37, has served as Rochester’s City Manager since 2023 and is involved in several organizations, including the Rochester Rotary Club, the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Council, and the Loudon Communications Council, where she serves as vice chair.

Her passion for community service began at a young age through her participation in 4-H. “These valuable early experiences helped me develop a sense of personal responsibility to contribute and take a meaningful part in building a brighter future,” she said. “As a professional, I see firsthand how strong and vibrant communities can become when we all share our unique experiences and talents with our neighbors.”

Ambrose believes in resilience and embracing challenges, stating “It’s OK to ask for help sometimes, keep trusting your gut, and don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything has a way of working out, and you won’t remember most problems in six months or even six weeks. The relationships and connections that you can build if you embrace discomfort and vulnerability are invaluable.”

Ambrose says that while being recognized as one of the 40 Under Forty is an incredible honor, her greatest achievement and privilege is serving as Rochester’s City Manager. “I am grateful to serve a city where the citizens, staff, and Council all value and demonstrate hard work, kindness and service to others, and great passion for the community,” she said. “I would not be successful without our dedicated and professional staff or a positive working relationship with City Council.”

Mayor Paul Callaghan congratulates Ambrose, stating “Katie is an incredible asset to the City of Rochester,” said Callaghan. “Her commitment to public service, strong leadership skills, and ability to bring people together have made a tremendous impact on our community. This recognition is well deserved!”

40 Under Forty recipients will be celebrated at a special reception on March 12, 2025, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord. For more information about the event and the full list of honorees, visit unionleader.com.
