City of Rochester Encourages Voter Participation, Invites Residents to Watch ‘Meet the Candidates’ Ahead of November 4 Election

Published on

The City of Rochester is reminding all eligible voters to make a plan to participate in the Municipal Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at polling locations throughout the city.

To help residents make informed decisions, Rochester GovTV has released a new installment of its nonpartisan Meet the Candidates video series. The program introduces candidates for Mayor, City Council, School Board, and Police Commission, with each participant given up to three minutes to speak directly to voters about their priorities and vision for Rochester. Participation in the series was voluntary, and not all candidates chose to take part.

For convenience, video-on-demand segments are organized by office/ward and listed alphabetically by candidate name:

New residents and first-time voters are encouraged to register before Election Day at the City Clerk’s Office, located inside the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, 150 Wakefield Street. The deadline to register in advance is Monday, October 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The Supervisors of the Checklist will also meet that evening from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Strafford Regional Planning Commission, 150 Wakefield Street, to accept final voter registrations. Those who miss the deadline may register at the polls on Election Day.

Residents can find information about voter eligibility, required identification, and proof of domicile at www.sos.nh.gov/elections/register-vote. Recent changes under House Bill 1569, which took effect in 2024, outline new requirements for proof of identity and domicile when registering to vote.

Qualified voters who cannot appear in person may request an absentee ballot from the City Clerk’s Office. Requests may be submitted by mail, email, or in person, and must be received by 5:00 p.m. in person or 12:00 p.m. by mail or email the day before the election. Completed ballots must be returned on or before 5:00 p.m. on Election Day. Please return to the City Clerk’s Office, 150 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH 03867. For assistance, contact cityclerk@rochesternh.gov or call (603) 332-2130.

Polling locations for the November 4 election are as follows:

  • Ward 1 – Salmon Falls School, 753 Salmon Falls Road
  • Ward 2 – Chamberlain Street School, 65 Chamberlain Street
  • Ward 3 – Gonic Elementary School, 10 Railroad Avenue
  • Ward 4 – McClelland Elementary School, 59 Brock Street
  • Ward 5 – James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, 150 Wakefield Street
