City of Rochester to Begin Fire Hydrant Flushing from 9/22 to 10/24

Published on

The City of Rochester will begin flushing fire hydrants starting on September 22. The work is expected to continue until October 24 or until flushing is complete. Most flushing will take place overnight, from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, with some valve operations happening during regular business hours.

Residents may notice a slight discoloration in their water as a result of the flushing. Running cold water for several minutes can help clear up the discoloration. Low water pressure is also possible while flushing is underway. It is advised that residents check their water before bathing or doing laundry.

For any questions or concerns, or if discoloration does not clear up, residents are encouraged to contact the Rochester Public Works Department at (603) 332-4096 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
