On December 23, the Communications Center, Police Department, and participants from the Project Good Morning (PGM) program gathered at Granite Steak and Grill for their annual holiday breakfast. This event, generously donated and prepared by Granite Steak and Grill for the past few years, continues to bring the community together during the holiday season.
Established in 1995, Project Good Morning was created to assist senior citizens in the community who live alone, helping them maintain an independent lifestyle. The program provides members and their families with the reassurance of daily contact, ensuring the member’s well-being.
To be eligible for the Project Good Morning program, participants must reside in the City of Rochester and complete an application. Once submitted, the application is reviewed by the project coordinator, who contacts the applicant to explain the program details. Upon acceptance, program members are required to check in daily with the Police Department between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. If a member fails to check in by 10:00 AM, a communications specialist will attempt to contact them. Should this effort fail, a patrol unit or other emergency personnel will be dispatched to the member’s address to conduct a welfare check and ensure their safety.
For more information about the program, contact the Rochester Police Department in person, by phone at (603) 330-7128, or visit their website at https://police.rochesternh.gov/project-good-morning.html.
