Rochester Cares Clean-up Day scheduled for 4/17

In celebration of Earth Day, and in an effort to clean up the downtown in time for the warmer months, the City of Rochester will be hosting ‘Rochester Cares Clean-up Day’ on Saturday, April 17 from 9 am to 12 pm.

Clean-up Day is an annual tradition that brings together individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to clean up trash and debris and to spread mulch throughout the downtown.

“Clean-up Day is one of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day,” said Cindy Lamie, Rochester Recreation Department. “An outdoor event like this is the perfect way for the community to safely come together and make a difference in Rochester.”

Masks are required and organizers encourage volunteers to bring their own work gloves, shovels, rakes, garden tools, and wheelbarrows as supplies and tools are limited.

Registration and check-in are scheduled for 9 am and the clean-up will occur from 10 am to 12 pm. Early pre-registration is preferred, especially for groups. Visit www.RochesterRec.com to sign up online.

Rochester Cares Clean-up Day is sponsored by the City of Rochester, Rochester Main Street, Rochester Recreation Department, Rochester Police Department, and Waste Management.
