Did you know that the Rochester Police Department has a Police Cadet Post? If you are between the ages of 14 and 20, you’re eligible to participate—even if you’re from a neighboring town!
The Rochester Police Cadets meet every other Tuesday during the school year to explore many aspects of police work. These meetings offer hands-on experiences and valuable insights into careers in law enforcement, community service, and leadership.
This year’s training schedule includes:
- November 25, 2025: First meeting
- December 9, 2025: Defensive Tactics / Handcuffing
- December 23, 2025: Interview and Interrogation
- January 6, 2026: Domestic Violence Investigations / HAVEN
- January 20, 2026: Mental Health, De-escalation, and Dispatch Operations
- February 3, 2026: Firearms Safety / Skill-Builders
- Mandatory attendance is required to participate in Range Day.
- February 17, 2026: Firearms Range Day / Taser Demonstration
- March 3, 2026: Evidence Processing / Mock Crime Scenes
- March 17, 2026: Simunitions Scenarios
- April 7, 2026: K9 Unit / SWAT Team
- April 21, 2026: Motor Unit / Final Meeting
LOCATION: All sessions will take place in the Rochester Police Department Lecture Hall.
TIME: All sessions are held on Tuesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Cadet Post provides opportunities for leadership training, community service, mentorship from police officers, and educational workshops and activities. The cost to join is $20 per cadet, and financial assistance is available upon request.
