The Franklin Gallery at RiverStones Custom Framing, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, will host an exhibit during the month of December featuring the work of New England artist Trie Michaud. An opening reception will be held on Friday, December 6 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to come and view the exhibit and meet the artist. Light refreshments will be served.
Trie’s art is all about transformation, imagination, and a touch of chaos. Each piece begins with an unplanned squiggle, evolving into winged creatures, curious birds, and fantastical beings from a world beyond.
After navigating a divorce post-Covid and becoming her mother’s sole caregiver during her battle with cancer in 2022, Trie found herself seeking healing through creativity. “These life-changing moments turned art into my emotional outlet and therapy, giving me the courage to live boldly and authentically. These creatures I created became more than whimsical doodles—they’re symbols of resilience and beauty found in the unexpected. Every line reflects my journey, a reminder that even without a plan, magic can unfold.”
Along with creating art, Trie has been following a Vermont-based band, Twiddle, since 2014, which inspired her to launch her business, Hugatrie LLC, in 2018. Then in 2023, she took a leap of faith and hit the road following Twiddle across the country, living out of her car and selling art along the way. “It was a transformative journey that reaffirmed my belief in the power of art and human connection.”
She has also had the honor of performing live art alongside some amazing musical acts, including Annie in the Water, Booyah!, Hayley Jane, One Time Weekend, Max Creek, The Mikes (Mike Bafundo and Mike Oehmen), and Adam Ezra Band. Her artwork has even been projected on the walls of the Capital Theater in NY during Twiddle performances, adding a visual layer to the music.
In addition to creating artwork, she recently wrote an ebook called “Awakening The Soul.” It blends neurographic art techniques with personal stories from her journey, offering a unique perspective on healing and self-expression. Trie has also launched a podcast, “Morning Mind Dump,” where she dives into tough topics like self-love, relationships, fear, boundaries, and life in general. “I keep it real, positive, and inspiring—encouraging listeners to explore growth and embrace life’s challenges.
Whether through my art, writing, or podcast, I aim to inspire others to find their own freedom and healing. Every squiggle I draw, every conversation I have, and every step I take is all about embracing the chaos, finding beauty in the unexpected, and living life fully.”
