The Seacoast LGBT History Project is gearing up for its tenth annual exhibit at The Franklin Gallery this August.
The Seacoast NH LGBT History Project is proud to present stories and artifacts that illustrate the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people while highlighting their contributions to the rich history and thriving present of the Seacoast.
People of all sexual orientations and gender identities have long been part of the Seacoast community. The LGBT History Project has attempted to accurately represent historical terminology while maintaining the use of inclusive language. The organization hopes visitors leave with an understanding that the language used to describe the broader community, as well as individual members of sexual and gender minorities, has changed over time and will continue to evolve.
“We are so excited to once again be a part of the August exhibit at the Franklin Gallery for Rochester’s Pride Day,” Tom Kaufhold, founder of the Seacoast LGBT History Project, said.
“I welcome the Seacoast LGBT History Project back for the tenth year and look forward to another wonderful exhibit,” said Kris Ebbeson, proprietor of The Franklin Gallery. “Tom is so great to work with, and I am always excited to offer my gallery space to display the artifacts from this very important project.”
The exhibit will be on display from Saturday, August 1, through Saturday, August 29, and is free to view. The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be extended hours on Rochester’s Pride Day, Saturday, August 1, when the gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
