New Program Supports Climate Resilience Projects in Great Bay Communities

A new program called Project Builder is now available to help community groups in the Great Bay Watershed develop strong, fundable project proposals that address climate challenges like flooding and extreme heat.

Rather than funding completed projects, Project Builder offers direct support to help groups shape their ideas, connect with partners, and prepare for future grant opportunities. The program is open to a wide range of participants, from town committees and nonprofit organizations to artists, volunteers, and community teams. Whether the project is big or small, the goal is to help local efforts grow into effective, long-term solutions.

The program was created in response to feedback from the 2024 Adapting Together listening sessions, where communities across the region shared the need for more help navigating the grant process and preparing for climate impacts.

Project Builder is part of the Great Bay 2030 initiative from the NH Charitable Foundation. The effort is led by the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Partnership (PREP), with support from NH Sea Grant and the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup, who will work directly with selected groups.

Applications are open until July 1, 2025. For more information or to apply, visit prepestuaries.org/what-we-do/adapting-together.
