NH Association of Conservation Commissions seeks local photographers for “This is Worth Protecting” contest

Published on

Are you passionate about capturing the beauty of nature through photography? If so, consider participating in the “This is Worth Protecting” photo contest organized by the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions (NHACC).

The NHACC is seeking photos that evoke a sense of inspiration for the preservation of our natural environment. Photographers are encouraged to take pictures on conserved lands within or near their hometown, although submissions from other locations, including personal backyards, are also welcomed. All photos must be taken within the State of New Hampshire.

Submissions will be open until September 20, 2024.

The contest comprises three categories: Adults using any photography equipment, Kids and Teens using any equipment, and any age group utilizing only cell phone cameras. Prizes for each category include a $250 award for first place, $100 for second place, and a $50 award for third place. The registration fee is $10 per person for adults, while participation is free for kids and teens. To submit, participants are required to use the online platform ArtCall.

Conservation Commissions at the local level are encouraged to motivate their residents to contribute photos, with special recognition going to the city or town with the highest number of entries. The panel of jurors includes well-known New Hampshire photographers, NHACC board members, and Land Trust professionals.

Winners will be announced in mid-October, and their photographs will be featured at the NHACC Annual Meeting & Conference in November.

The University of New Hampshire’s Town Lands Map provides information on town properties, and individuals can also contact their local Conservation Commissions to inquire about conserved lands. Enjoy the process and embrace the chance to contribute to the appreciation of our natural environments.
