NH DHHS Announces “Strong as Granite” Mental Health and Substance Misuse Campaign

Published on

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announces a new public awareness campaign designed to help New Hampshire residents quickly and easily access resources for mental health and substance misuse support. Through advertising and social media outreach, the campaign directs Granite Staters to the resources that are available 24/7 in times of need.

“New Hampshire has worked to rebuild our mental health system from the ground up, with an emphasis on providing Granite Staters support when and where they need it,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “The Strong as Granite campaign provides yet another set of tools to quickly access resources in a time of need.”

“Access to prevention and early intervention services is a key factor in keeping people well before a mental health or substance misuse crisis,” said DHHS Commissioner Lori Weaver. “Knowing how to get help is a critical first step as our residents determine the supports they need to lead meaningful, rewarding lives.”

The campaign’s name, Strong as Granite, evokes the spirit of self-sufficiency that New Hampshire residents have long embraced. Messages will focus on strength, resiliency, and hope, and direct audiences to State and national resources, including:

  • New Hampshire Rapid Response (833-710-6477) – New Hampshire’s statewide mental health and substance use access point. Accessible by phone, text, and chat, trained counselors can deploy mobile crisis response teams to communities when needed.
  • The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – offers 24/7 call, text, and chat access to trained crisis counselors who can help individuals who may be experiencing suicidal, substance use, mental health crisis, or other emotional distress.
  • 211 NH – provides access to The Doorway, New Hampshire’s network of substance use disorder access points throughout the state.
