The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a new parade route for Rochester’s 2026 Holiday Parade, returning Sunday, December 6, with this year’s festive theme, “Christmas in Whoville.” Spectators are encouraged to take note of the route change and plan their viewing location accordingly as the parade travels through downtown Rochester.
The parade will begin at the triangle by the R.W. Creteau Regional Technology Center at Spaulding High School, travel south on Wakefield Street, turn at Central Square onto North Main Street, and continue to Holy Rosary Church, where the parade will disband in the parking lot behind the church. Unlike previous years, the parade will conclude at Holy Rosary Church rather than the Rochester Common. Community members are encouraged to share this updated route with friends, family, and neighbors to help spread the word.
The parade will begin 4:00 PM and feature an array of creatively decorated floats, marching units, mobile units, equestrian units, and, of course, Santa Claus! This year’s “Christmas in Whoville” theme invites participants to bring the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss to life through imaginative decorations and festive displays.
Businesses, community organizations, and groups are encouraged to participate in this beloved holiday tradition. Floats will be judged on theme, creativity, craftsmanship, and overall appearance, with plaques awarded for “Best of Parade,” Second Place, and Third Place. Entries will be accepted through the end of November.
The holiday celebrations will begin earlier in the weekend with Rochester’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration on Friday, December 4, at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Rochester. The evening will include caroling, cookie decorating, dance performances, visits with Santa, hot cocoa and cookies, a reading of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, and the annual lighting of the Christmas tree.
The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce invites the community to join in celebrating the holiday season and continuing Rochester’s cherished holiday traditions. With a new route and a festive “Christmas in Who-Ville” theme, this year’s parade promises to bring holiday cheer to the streets of Rochester.
