Nighttime Work on the Spaulding Turnpike, Temporary lane closures and rolling roadblocks will impact travel

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will perform nighttime construction work on the Spaulding Turnpike (NH Route 16) in Dover to complete the erection of a new tolling gantry structure.

On Wednesday night, June 21, 2023, between the hours of 6 pm and 12 am, construction crews will erect a new tolling gantry structure across both northbound and southbound barrels near the existing Dover Toll Plaza.  Lane closures and rolling roadblocks with uniformed police officers will be utilized to control traffic during these operations.  The rolling roadblock for the gantry erection is expected to take 15 minutes and is anticipated to occur around 9:00 pm.  Additional, shorter term rolling roadblocks may also be necessary to complete the work.

Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction zone.  Motorists are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic-related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.

The work is weather dependent and is expected to be completed in one night.

NHDOT programs and services are administered by the requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all applicable regulations to ensure nondiscrimination.
