Police investigating fatal car accident on Chestnut Hill Rd

Rochester Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle car accident on Chestnut Hill Rd that left one passenger dead.

Police responded to the area of Chestnut Hill Rd, near Roger Allen Park, around 12:50 pm, for the report of a U-haul truck into a tree. Police arrived and noticed the heavily damaged truck into a tree off the shoulder on the northbound side of road. One passenger was dead on scene.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during the accident and another passenger was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

The Strafford County Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist with the investigation and a portion of Chestnut Hill Rd was shut down and traffic re-routed for about four hours while Police processed the scene.

The accident is still under investigation at this time and no names are being released while Police notify next of kin.
