The City of Rochester will begin flushing fire hydrants on May 3 and will continue through June 11, 2026. The majority of flushing will be scheduled between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. and is expected to be completed within six weeks.
As a result of flushing, slight discoloration may be noticed in your water. If discoloration occurs, it may clear up by running your cold water tap for several minutes. Customers may also experience low water pressure while flushing is in progress. Residents are urged to check their water for these issues before bathing or doing laundry.
If residents have any questions or concerns, or if discoloration does not clear, contact the Department of Public Works during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., at (603) 332-4096.
