Recreation Department to form Youth Advisory Committee

Published on

The Rochester Recreation Department recently announced they are forming a Youth Advisory Committee made up of a diverse group of young people from Rochester Middle School and Spaulding High School.

According to a recent social media post, the goal is to gain a “youth perspective” and generate new ideas for future programming and other activities.

The Youth Advisory Committee will be asked to contribute to the department’s Master Plan, identify new activities they would like to participate in, be a voice for youth in the community regarding programming, communicate issues or concerns to staff, and support increasing the number of young participants in Rec. activities.

Committee members will develop leadership skills, have a safe place to express their ideas, and make meaningful contributions to the operation department offering more diverse activities that will meet the needs of young people.

Parental permission is required to participate. Interested young people are encouraged to contact Jeff Turgeon at jeffrey.turgeon@rochesternh.gov.

Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 17, 2023 (2:30pm)
Where: Rochester Recreation Department, 150 Wakefield St., Conference Room 1
