Rochester Historical Society to Host Free Presentation on NH’s Covered Bridges on 4/10

The Rochester Historical Society will host a presentation on New Hampshire’s covered bridges on April 10 at 6:00 PM. The event will feature guest speaker Kim Varney Chandler, author of Covered Bridges of New Hampshire (2022).

New Hampshire was once home to more than 300 covered bridges, with approximately 60 still standing today. Chandler’s presentation explores the history, craftsmanship, and enduring significance of these structures. Attendees will gain insight into the remarkable wooden beams and engineering techniques that have allowed many of these bridges to stand for over a century.

Chandler, a lifelong New Hampshire resident, is an active photographer, bird watcher, and amateur genealogist. Her work has received multiple awards, and she currently serves as a high school counselor.

The event is free and open to the public. The Rochester Historical Society (RHS) and Museum is located at 58 Hanson Street. For additional information, contact Ralph Montgomery, Rochester Historical Society President, at rlmshs@yahoo.com.
