Rochester Public Library Highlights Unique “Library of Things” Collection

The Rochester Public Library is reminding residents about its innovative “Library of Things” collection, a program that allows cardholders to borrow non-traditional items, encouraging sustainability, creativity, and exploration.

The Library of Things gives patrons the opportunity to “try before you buy,” helping reduce waste and promote reuse within the community. The collection includes a wide range of unique items available for checkout, from practical tools to fun recreational equipment.

Current items include:

  • CD Player
  • Cornhole set
  • Digital luggage scale
  • Dungeons & Dragons starter pack
  • Ghost hunting kit
  • Home theater projector
  • Crochet kit
  • Knitting kit
  • Karaoke machine
  • Ukulele
  • Telescope
  • Oracle cards
  • Tarot cards
  • Sewing machine
  • Metal detectors (2)

To borrow an item, patrons must be 18 years or older and sign a borrower’s agreement before checkout.

“The Library of Things collection allows our patrons to ‘try before you buy,’” said Abby Rosselli, Programming Librarian. “We hope to continue to grow our collection and provide items that the community wants and that fit their needs.”
