Rochester Public Library Invites Teens to Explore the Wonders of Solar Eclipses

Published on

The Rochester Public Library is excited to announce an engaging program designed to educate and inspire local teens about solar eclipses, with a particular focus on the upcoming partial annular eclipse on October 14th and the highly anticipated total eclipse on April 8th.

Scheduled for Monday, September 25th, at 3 pm, teens will have the opportunity to learn about eclipses in general, understand the differences between annular and total eclipses, and gain valuable insights into what to expect during these celestial events. Participants will also receive their own eclipse viewing glasses and craft a protective holder for them.

Teen Room librarian Amy Lemelin shared her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We will have a partial annular eclipse in October, which I feel will be a bit of a dress rehearsal for the total eclipse in April.” She added, “Eclipses are such exciting astrological events. I am looking forward to helping the kids understand more about the different eclipses and how to prepare for them.”

The Eclipse program is part of the library’s ongoing efforts to engage teens, foster learning, and provide a welcoming space for information, socializing, and reading.

For more information about this event and other activities in the Teen room, please contact Amy Lemelin at amy.lemelin@rochesternh.gov or visit the Rochester Public Library’s Teen page at https://www.rpl.lib.nh.us/teens.

In addition to this exciting program, the Teen Room regularly offers drop-in activities such as art, STEM, games, book groups, and hosts a dynamic Teen Advisory group that meets monthly to shape future activities.
